4 Ways to Start Prioritizing Self-Care

In today’s world, self-care is often left on the back burner. Our busy lifestyles make it difficult to prioritize time for just us. Self-care means listening to your body, taking moments to check in, intentionally tuning in to the thoughts going on in your mind, and challenging your behaviors and belief systems if things feel out of alignment in your life.

Here are four ways you can easily prioritize self-care in your daily life!

1) Slow Down

There never seems to be enough time to do everything you want or need to do. Yet rushing through your daily activities often robs you of the experience. Do you gulp down your morning coffee while battling traffic on your way to work? If so, you probably don’t even notice the taste or appreciate its warmth the way you would if you sat down and leisurely enjoyed it, even for 10 minutes. Slowing down also offers physical benefits; people who eat slower tend to gain less weight (or lose weight faster), maintain lower blood pressure, and experience less stress and anxiety.

2) Perform a Social Media Cleanse

Open your social media apps and go through to remove or hide toxic people from your friends and followers lists. Browse your accounts; do certain people post things that always make you feel drained or upset? Improve your social media experience by filtering them from your feed. You will be surprised how much better your mood gets once you start consuming content that only makes you feel happy and light!

3) Get Enough Sleep

Sleep services all aspects of our body in one way or another: molecular, energy balance, intellectual function, alertness, and mood. The benefits of a good night’s sleep are bountiful. So set yourself up for 7 to 8 hours of high-quality sleep, ideally with a few hours before midnight.

4) Treat Yourself

There are many reasons you should spend money on yourself. Small indulgences, like a fresh bouquet of flowers, can provide a boost of serotonin and serve as a reminder that you’re worth it!

Another great form of self-care is booking a boudoir photoshoot. When you book a boudoir photo session at The Pouting Room, we’ll ensure you have a self-care experience unlike any other. Your shoot and the images revealed after will serve as a long-lasting reminder that you are beautiful and powerful.
