Incorporating Lingerie into Your Wardrobe
On a normal day, you probably grab the first pair of panties that you see in your drawer, and maybe sometimes a bra that matches them. However, we have talked a lot about how wearing lingerie or a gorgeous bra and panty set can help women feel empowered on any given day.
Lingerie might soon be a part of your everyday wardrobe as a visible piece, and for many women, lingerie already is.
Recently, lingerie has become a major style trend. Lingerie pieces are no longer just for the bedroom: it is for Saturday afternoon running errands or for happy hours with the coworkers. (If you add a blazer, of course!)
Sheer Tops
For two years in a row, NYC’s Fashion Week featured lingerie-like pieces worn in new ways, with sheer bras serving as tops, providing limited coverages. Many models and celebrities were also seen wearing structured lingerie undergarment playing a role beneath sheer dresses, sweaters, casual wear and more.
We’re all about feeling comfortable in your own skin and we are loving trend. Wearing a lingerie top is all about showing off the female form just as it should be.
Sheer lingerie styles can be worn as a statement piece for a night out with friends when worn under a leather jacket or a jean button down shirt. It can also be paired with a structured paint suit for a board meeting.

Sheer Bottom
The sheer trend doesn’t just apply to the top half, and if you have prefer to show off your booty, going sheer on your bottom half is an option too. A lot of celebrities are wearing high-top panties or one-piece lingerie pieces, underneath sheer or barely-there bottoms. We love this look for happy hour with the girls, a special date night event, or a bachelorette party for your bestie.
When going sheer on the bottom, you need to make sure your bottom half is secure and fits well into the lingerie. You don’t want to worry about undergarments sliding out of their place during the night. Spraying a little bit of hairspray onto your skin before you get dressed can help keep covered and secured.
Plunging Necklines
This lingerie fashion statement is especially helpful for women with large busts that have trouble wearing low necklines.
If you have a top or a dress that has a plunging neckline or an open back, you don’t need to worry about finding a “barely-there bra” which can be especially difficult if you have a large chest. Instead of finding a bra that might work, pull your favorite piece out of your lingerie drawer, and show it off as a part of your outfit. As long as you coordinate the shades or fabric types, the lingerie will look like a part of the outfit. Anyone can pull off a plunging neckline if they have the right undergarments. Consider adding a push-up detailed with boning, lace, and pops of color.
Layered Lingerie
It might be a little daring, and it’s not for everyone, but there’s also a trend that involves wearing your bra over your top instead of under it. Consider wearing studded lingerie over a fitted leather top for an edgier look or wear lace lingerie over a simple blouse for a softer look.
Thankfully, this trend means that we don’t need to worry as much about our bra straps showing. This trend has grown popular as the result of the bralette: a more comfortable, casual, and lacey version of a bra that’s meant to be shown off underneath whatever you’re wearing.
Whether you like high-necked bralettes paired with low-cut tops, racer back bralettes that peek out from underneath your shirt, or simple lace details underneath a loose fitting t-shirt, bralettes are a great way to experiment with the lingerie trend without showing too much skin.
Nighties for Cocktail Dresses
If you’re feeling adventurous and recently purchased a sexy nightie that you want to show off, throw on a pair of tights and some heels and hit the bar in your pajamas. Last year, lingerie dresses were a hot runway trend and still are now.
Layer with jackets and sweaters, wear over a long-sleeved tee, or even pair with skinny jeans.
Underneath the Outfit
