How to Be Your Own Cheerleader in Life

Not all of us are lucky enough to have a support system of people who love us and are there for us during our darkest and happiest moments. Some of us are alone with only ourselves to keep us going. Whether by choice or circumstance, being your own cheerleader in life is a daunting task but can be extremely rewarding and fulfilling if given a fair chance.

Here are a few tips to become your biggest cheerleader and support system for yourself!

Keep a Gratitude List

It’s easy to sit down at the end of a long stressful day and think of everything that went wrong. We are often our biggest critics, but when you don’t have a support system, you can’t afford to think so negatively! Try keeping a gratitude list and write three things you are grateful for every morning when you wake up or every night before you go to sleep. Watch how your mood shifts and your brain enters a more positive and abundant state of being. Gratitude is powerful and can help you keep pushing toward your goals even when you begin to doubt yourself.

Don’t Shy Away from Compliments

Think about the number of times you have been given a compliment in your life and just brushed it off or didn’t believe it. For example, someone walks up to you and lets you know how much they love your outfit, and instead of saying thank you, you say something like, “oh, I feel like it makes me look bloated,” or “I couldn’t find anything else to wear so I just threw this on.”

Don’t shy away from compliments; embrace them. Whether it’s your boss giving you a job well done on your most recent project or a stranger on the street expressing their love for your makeup look, say thank you and recognize your accomplishments no matter how small they may seem.

Treat Yourself

When you’re one of the only people cheering you on, it’s easy to forget to treat yourself. When you’ve accomplished a goal you have been striving for, take yourself out to that celebratory dinner, or buy that bag you’ve had your eye on. Treating yourself and spending money on things that will make you happy is okay. Reward yourself for persevering and defying the odds!

A boudoir photoshoot is an excellent way to support yourself on your journey of self-acceptance or to treat yourself for accomplishing a goal. EVERY body is welcome to try boudoir photography, and booking a session is a great form of self-care.
